Q: What happened to the Highland Language Centre ?
A: The old building was sold in June 2008 and Ian & Myra moved into the new
building next door. They decided, after 23 years, to stop offering Intensive
Business English Courses and to concentrate on the leisure market
Q: Is HLC still a one-to-one specialist?
A: Yes. Since HLC was established in 1985 we have concentrated on one-to-one
instruction. We do not normally offer group courses. We can organise group golf
activities if required.
Q: Does the HLC still have residential accommodation ?
A: Yes. There is a self contained apartment at the top of the new house , but
we also offer a self catering option in a holiday house along the seafront, 2
minutes walk from the HLC.
Q: Is the HLC in a good location?
A: Yes. The HLC is located directly on the seafront, with wonderful views in a
peaceful, relaxing, rural environment. It is also accessible, being only 30
minutes from Inverness airport, which has direct flights to London ,
Edinburgh, Manchester & Birmingham. In addition it is well-placed for
exploring the Highlands of Scotland - Loch Ness, the West Coast, castles and
whisky distilleries are all within driving distance.
Q: Does the new HLC provide any meals ?
A: We provide lunch every day and four evening meals per week including wine.
Q: How long is a typical course ?
A: Courses vary from 1 week to a maximum of 2 weeks.
Q: What about your Business English Courses ?
A: We are recommending the Lydbury English Centre in England. It was started
in 1985, the same year as the HLC, is also owned and run by a couple like
ourselves, Duncan & Rita Baker, and has the same philosophy as the HLC -
personal but highly professional. Their website is www.lydbury.co.uk
Q: How do I get more information?
A: Contact ian@hlc.co.uk.
