This is the core course at the HLC. This is the optimum way to improve your English.

Sundays - arrive at Inverness Airport. We will pick you up and drive you to the HLC. You have a private room with shower, WC & TV. Everything is provided for you, from dinner with wine to free use of the HLC car. This means you don't have to worry about anything except concentrating on improving your English.

At the HLC we work a one and a half day teaching rhythm which means there is a full one-to-one teaching programme on Monday, Wednesday & Friday, and on Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday there is a half day teaching schedule to allow for other activities. We have found this to be the best way of learning, allowing time for self study, relaxation and enhancing the important connection between language and culture. Lunch and dinner are taken with the teachers and a full evening programme is organised.

The content of the course is negotiated before arrival in Scotland, and on the first morning we conduct detailed tests, discuss the proposed course and set targets for achievement. We use our HLC Assessment Tests and have a wide range of hardware such as video cameras, PCs, laptops, etc. As well as a variety of published software and books we have an excellent range of materials written and prepared by ourselves.

Every client has his own individual needs and requirements so courses can vary considerably, but the brief example course outline below shows a typical week's programme prepared for a bank director.
